Because Palpatine the cat chases snakes and got bitten and ended up on life support for 4 days. But the vet saved him so he is a very lucky cat. But now he has none of his nine lives left so he has to stay inside for ever and look longingly out the window and just remember fondly the fun he had chasing snakey things.
